I got a few photos at the tourney but more for an upcoming article in Disc Golfer, which is an interview with Steve Slasor, who won the very 1st PDGA tournament and continues to play strong disc golf to this day.
I ran down to Charlotte county to look at some property for a course and then went to the Port Charlotte regional park to see if I could find the new holes they’re planning on putting in. I’m hoping to convince them that extra holes (or a completely new 9) would be better if they had a different flavor from the other 18.
John E McCray swung back from a 5 stroke deficit to win his 97th open pro event. Shown below: This blind uphill turbo putt glanced off the top of the basket after a gust of wind lifted it up. John E is the 8-time Fla Tour winner.
After the SPO, I played 9 holes with the new light-weight plastic in prep for my trip to Japan in just a couple of weeks. Some of the discs are wildly unpredictable while others feel like they’ll hold a pretty true line. Drivers are less problematic (for me) than midranges and putters.
