I met, Jamie, the Daytona guy who runs Monday’s “Down Low Dubs” a bit after 10 on Friday morning at RCNP and we spent the better part of 5 to 6 hours setting up the next 9, with tee signs, flags, next T signs and baskets. I did most of the trimming last Monday on the way back from the Jammers Freestyle tourney (Jax beach) but we had to clean a lot of downed sticks & cones.
The 2011 Tour Del Sol stop #6 at River City Nature Park marks the first PDGA tourney held at this park. I think 35 players showed up, not including the rec players who wandered in and mingled with us.
I think most people are liking the new holes, which were intended to play a little tougher on average than on the first 9. But I went a little overboard on hole #7, which was 590 from the short and 690 from the long. This will only be the Championship pin or the Skins pin. I played pretty mediocre in round 1 with a –3/55. Terry shot a –7 to hold the lead by 4 over me.
Round 2 we started on the short, 230’ hole #5, which I promptly aced. I throw, 2 down! Ching. Make that Cha-Ching! Terry fell off his game a bit. Shawn Crankiewicz improved his 1st round score by 6 to my 7.
I ended up winning by one, courtesy of the Ace!
RCNP dgc has been in the ground around 3 years. My discs have made the chains sing out several times since then. But I could claim no aces until a couple of weeks ago. Today I hit my second in 3 weeks!
Tomorrow: Now I have to decide if I’m going to Ocala’s TDS #7 at Pine Oaks Golf Course.
