World Champion Disc Golf Design’s “Rent-A-Course” program goes 2 for 2!
(Rental to permanent) This time in Mount Dora, FL.
We got started today replacing the tee signposts and dropping carpet tees with landscape timber frames, because the rec dept does’nt yet have the $$ for concrete pads. We had hoped they might have access to crushed shell for a base, but we had to settle for clay , which was pretty good to work with until we got rained out.
Along with my partner and I, his brother Troy came along to gain first-hand knowledge of what it takes to install a course. And we had a couple of volunteers…THANKS Vic and Isaac!!
The baskets arrived at the public works building so we got a couple guys assembling those as I continued to work on the tees. After the rain, we got a couple more done, despite the disappearance of one of our power drills within 2 minutes of being left at one of the tees.
Later we saw a guy directly across the street eyeballing us as we worked. I stopped, caught his eye and asked if he’d like to have more of our power tools. He turned and walked into his house.
We still have two tees to finished tomorrow, but I wasn’t about to leave anything that even looks as if it might have some value. We’ll see if the neighbor pulls up the frames and steals the carpet over night.
Tomorrow: 2 more tees, new shiny baskets and lovely new signs. And, if all goes well, A pastor from north Florida will be driving a trailer down to pick up the rental targets and take them back up to his church…located on a former golf course. I’ll follow him up on Thursday to install our 3rd rental course.
